Did you know?

Some of the Amazon’s most fascinating creatures, like cicadas, spend up to 17 years buried underground before emerging into the light.

This mind-blowing natural phenomenon is a hidden story of resilience, survival, and balance in one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. 🌱✨

During a field inspection with Paulo from Ação Ecológica Guaporé – Ecoporé , we stumbled upon something extraordinary—a cicada nymph tube, a silent witness to the underground life that sustains the Amazon rainforest. 🕳️🌿

Why does this matter?

🪰 Biodiversity at work: Cicadas improve soil health and nutrient cycling, supporting the trees and plants that sustain life.

🌍 Vital connections: Their role in the food web keeps the ecosystem balanced—essential for everything from owls to reptiles.

🌳 Ecosystem engineers: Even their underground life creates ripple effects that impact the entire rainforest.

Yet, these incredible processes are at risk. Without urgent action to protect the Amazon, we’re not just losing trees—we’re losing entire networks of life that hold the planet together. 💔

This isn’t just an ecological story—it’s a wake-up call. Every piece of the puzzle matters. Every tube, tree, and creature plays a role.

👉 If we don’t fight for the Amazon, what else are we willing to lose?

💡 Let’s rethink biodiversity and advocate for action that values nature’s smallest, yet most vital, players. Conservation isn’t just about protecting the big and obvious—it’s about preserving the unseen, the underground, and the unspoken.

What’s your role in this fight? Let’s discuss below.
